CASE STUDY

Test DB Docker Suite

Reusable database images so environments boot in minutes, not days — for developers, QA, ops, and DBAs.

Test DB Docker Suite

01. Project Overview

Ready-to-run database images — Dameng, Highgo, Kingbase, TiDB and more — with consistent tags, docs, and live Docker Hub pull proof for developers, QA, ops, and DBAs.

02. Problem

Why build this?

Domestic and open-source databases were painful to stand up — undocumented installs blocked local development, automation, ops delivery, and onboarding.

03. Solution

How was it solved?

Published ready-to-run Dameng, Highgo, Kingbase, TiDB, and related images on Docker Hub with consistent tags and docs for every engineering role.

04. Architecture

System architecture

Environment path

  1. Docker Hub images
  2. Pull & run
  3. Local / CI environment
  4. Dev / test / ops workflows
  5. Evidence (live pulls)

05. Key Features

Core capabilities

  • Dameng, Highgo, Kingbase, TiDB and related ready-to-run images
  • Predictable tags for CI stability
  • One service per image for diagnosable failures
  • Docs oriented to pull-and-run workflows
  • Live pull metrics on this portfolio

06. My Role

What did I specifically do?

  • Identified the cross-role pain of undocumented domestic DB installs.
  • Built, tagged, and published the reusable Docker image suite.
  • Maintained docs and live pull evidence for team adoption.

07. Tech Stack

What technologies power it?

  • Docker
  • Docker Hub
  • Dameng
  • Highgo
  • Kingbase
  • TiDB

09. Deployment

How do you run it?

Pull an image from Docker Hub and boot it in local or CI environments.

  1. Browse the xuxuclassmate Docker Hub namespace.
  2. Pull the database image you need (e.g. Dameng / Highgo).
  3. Run with documented ports and env vars for local or CI workflows.
  4. Optionally verify live pull totals via the Docker Hub API Gateway.

10. GitHub

No public GitHub repository yet.

12. Tradeoffs

  • Boring, predictable tags over clever names — CI suites need stability first.
  • One service per image so failures stay diagnosable in pull-and-run flows.
  • Published Dameng / Highgo early — pull volume validated that the database pain was real.

13. What shipped

  • Dameng and Highgo images used widely across engineering teams
  • Consistent pull-and-run workflow for CI
  • A reusable foundation under AI tooling demos

14. Inspectable proof
